Founders Circle

FOUNDERS CIRCLE BENEFIT TRIPS

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce a two-tiered, two-year Founders Circle donation program for 2012 and 2013. This special program will raise funding to support and enhance Museum operations. Donor benets include these exclusive trips on a luxury private rail car. “We are looking for a few omitted members to join me in wrapping our arms around the organization to secure our day to day operations into 2014,” says Museum Board Chair Tom Jacobson. Our thanks to Rod Fishburn for the use of his car, information for which can be found at www.colonialcraftsrailcar.com. For more information please contact the museum at 951.943.3020 or info@oerm.org

San Simeon Trip

Gold Level ($50,000 donation over two years)

The tour leaves Los Angeles Union Station on a Saturday morning at 10:15 AM with our private railcars at the rear of Amtrak’s Coast Starlight. We serve a light brunch as we leave the station. The route is north out of downtown curving to the left just north of Glendale at Burbank Junction onto the former Southern Pacific Coast Line. We reach the ocean a little after noon as we pass through Ventura. The Coast Line hugs the beach and ocean for the next 100 miles. Lunch is served when we arrive at the ocean. The wine list features wines from the Central Coast region.

We arrive in San Luis Obispo at 3:30 PM. The Museum Director at Hearst Castle will send the Castle shuttle buses to the train station to pick us up and take us directly to San Simeon and up the hill to the Castle. We will enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the castle followed by a catered dinner beside the Greek pool overlooking the hills and ocean, a truly rare event. After dinner, our motor coach takes us to the nearby beach front Best Western Plus Cavalier Hotel for the night. We’ll enjoy the many campres alight on the beach while watching the sunset.

The following morning after breakfast at the hotel, we board buses for the Paso Robles region. There we visit two or three wineries. At the last winery, a buet lunch will be served before we head to the Paso Robles train station and re-board our private car. Almost immediately, the train climbs to Cuesta Summit followed by the spectacular descent into San Luis Obispo. As we return down the coast, the on-board staff will serve late afternoon hors d’oeuvres and a multi-course dinner. We return to Los Angeles at 9PM.

Our guests enjoy noted superior service with meals prepared fresh on board by our chefs. The bar is complimentary and our passengers will enjoy the attentive service that guests have come to expect when traveling with us. The wine tasting will begin with lunch on our way to San Luis Obispo and continue accompanied with afternoon hors d’oeuvres and dinner on the return trip. California central coast wines will be featured. Dinner at Hearst Castle will consist of hors d’oeuvres followed by a four-course dinner. The Hearst Company has a winery and this is a great opportunity to sample their selection.
