June 14-15: Pacific Electric Weekend, Rods & Rails and Father's Day BBQ
Ride into the past June 14-15 on the Big Red Cars of the Pacific Electric Railway, once America's largest interurban electric railway system, blanketing the Los Angeles region with more than 1,000 miles of rail lines.
The railway museum features the largest collection of Pacific Electric cars and of railway rolling stock in the West. Visitors can enjoy trolley and cable car exhibits and rides all day. During Pacific Electric Weekend, the largest group of PE cars will be in operation to ride and photograph. Admission to the grounds is free. Regular prices apply for all day ride passes. Ages 12 and up $12, ages 5-11 $8, ages 4 and under are free.
Saturday June 14 is the 15th Annual Rods & Rails Extravaganza and Historic Potato Festival at the 79 acre museum. The dual events take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rods & Rails will feature more than 150 classic cars from the 1920s to 1970s. Sponsored by the City of Perris, the event features entertainment, games, live music and contests for the whole family including historical Western reenactment. Admission to Rods & Rails and the railway museum grounds is free.
Bring Dad on Sunday, June 15 to the annual Father's Day BBQ. A delicious lunch will be served from noon until 2 p.m. On the menu for the day will be barbecued chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, potato salad, coleslaw, cornbread, and cherry cobbler. Price for the barbecue lunch will be $12 for adults and $8 for children. Reservations are required. Please call the museum office 951-943-3020 to make your reservation.
